Theme: Cumming finding success at Riverside Military

Good evening dear readers! I hope you are well and I wish you a great month of August for each one. Today's category will be curatorship and I hope you enjoy it.

Let's start?

Tim Cummings spent 40 years of his life in Athens Christian, ranging from student to teacher and coach to school. In 2016 Cummings decided to leave Athens Christian and was drawn to Riverside Military because of his indoor runway facility, which he says has not been used for that purpose in about 30 years. His arrival at Riverside Military was good as the school needed a runway coach. Since then, Cummings has been a trainer and serves as chaplain at the Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville.

He's enjoying life among the cadets!

“It’s a tremendous place for me to serve and help kids,” said Cummings of the 540-student, all-male school located near Lake Lanier in Hall County. “I have loved every second of it. A lot of my friends in Athens said, ‘The Lord needed you to go up there,’ and it wasn’t the most comfortable thing in the world going, but for me it has turned out to be a wonderful thing.”

“We’ve had two years of indoor track,” he said. “We had two meets last year and three meets this year. We’re the only indoor track facility in Georgia. We hosted the first indoor middle school track meet ever in Georgia. It was Riverside, Eagles Landing Christian, Athens Christian and Gainesville Middle School and Athens Christian won – my daughter beat me. I’m starting to get over that.”

“Although his cross country teams have yet to qualify for the Class A Private state meet, Cummings has made an immediate impression in track and field as Riverside Military won the Class A Private state meet – the first GHSA state title in the school’s 111-year history – in May with 93 points, besting fellow Region 8-A members Athens Academy (second place, 68 points) and Hebron Christian (tied for fourth place, 40 points).

The state championship trophy was the 31st (in various sports) that Cummings has been part of in his coaching career. Riverside Military – which finished sixth at state in Cummings’ first year – won the region title in 2017 and 2018, extending Cummings region winning streak to 14 consecutive years.”

Tim Cummings has already received proposals from other schools, but he’s content to remain in his current position.

See you next post, bye!
