Knowing Parachuting

Today we will talk a little about parachuting. That is a radical sport, we already know, but what we do not know about this modality?

First that parachuting was only considered sport in the 50's after the end of World War II. But there are records before the war even begins. In 1306 Chinese acrobats threw themselves from walls or towers using a kind of a large umbrella to cushion the landing. Almost 200 years later, the great painter Leonardo da Vinci would have written in notes: "If one day someone has a piece of impermeable cloth, having well covered pores with a starch mass and having ten fathoms on one side, he can throw himself any time without harm to you. " Turning the precursor as designer of a parachute.

Over the years, Italian, French and English have marked the history of the sport by making jumps in their respective cities. In 1808, the Polish Kuparenko used the parachute as a lifeguard when jumping from a burning balloon. There are not many landmarks that parachuting has had.

Even though precariously, parachuting was used by the military to launch troops and supplies in regions difficult to land. A few years later, the canopy was developed so that the parachutist can better target, but the impact was still a problem. However, over the years the parachute has been perfected and there’s no more problems like this.

The equipment necessary to practice parachuting are: the parachute, altimeter (measures the height in relation to the ground), helmet, overalls and glasses. To compete there are nine modalities, the most popular of which is free fall training, in which the group of athletes perform as many formations as possible during the fall.

The others are: Skysurf, Freefly, Style, Precision, Coss Country, Wing Fly, Freestyle, Base Jump.
