Good afternoon readers, today is publication day! As usual, let's talk about one more sport, know how it works. Today's post is about Fencing!
Let's start?
A very old fencing and a modality, from very early, perhaps of the Egyptians or of Old Greece, a fencing already existed, having engravings that prove this illustrating fights with swords between men. Fencing was much more than a sport, it was a form of combat, it had no rules, and the objectives were to hunt to survive. Over time, a fencing to modify, including as swords. Today there are various types of swords.
Only one sports fencing is available, which is divided into three different types of weapons: sword, foil and saber, representing the old armaments used in combat and training.
Each fencing weapon has its rule, punctuation zone and touch form, and in the sword and foil the touch can only be tip and saber, with a tip, cut and counter-cut.
Foil:
This weapon is the most common for fencing participants, being this weapon by which beginners learn fencing. It is a versatile weapon because of its flexibility and because it is quite light (more than the Sword). Foil measures about 90 centimeters with the blade, also having the cup (the protecting part and hand of the blade) and the handle.
Traditionally this weapon was the only one used by women in competitions, and that reality has changed over the years.

Sword
Unlike the Florete and the Saber, the sword is a stiffer weapon and this brings advantage to taller players and takes advantage of what the versatile have in the other categories, this fact is proven, making use of its height to have a greater reach. With the sword, the whole body is valid for the attack, so the position should be more right and not too flexed because so the knee is far ahead and this would be a visible weakness of the player.

Saber
This weapon is the most flexible of all, to the point that it almost looks like a whip shaken with force and this makes even blocking the blade can bend in your weapon and touch him in it.
The Saber matches are quite fast and that's why it takes a lot of skill and physical ability. Unlike other weapons, the saber can touch any part of the blade.

Fencing Track
The fencing lane measures 14 meters in length and varies between 1.5 and 2 meters wide. The same lane is divided into several zones.
It has a half-line dividing the track into two, 7 meters for each side. Then it has two guard lines, each one 2 meters from the center line. At the extremities of the track, in an area of 2 meters in length is an area called Signalis, this is usually another color and serves as a warning to the esgrenistas that they are almost leaving the valid area of the track. Finally, after the zone Signalis there is the area of Final Retreat, having it between 1.5 to 2 meters and is made of conductive metal.
Referee
The referee is responsible to see if all plays are valid and to control all combat, having as main functions:
- Know the basic rules according to the FIE Regal in the 3 weapons.
Call the outlaws on the runway
- Direct the match.
- Verify material, clothing, safety and control marks.
- Supervise your assistants.
- Keep order.
- Stay the faults.
- Add the ringtones.
Fencing Equipment
The fencing has several equipments so that it is possible to be practiced and many of them special because of the electrical system. We will see all the necessary equipment for such.

Uniform
The uniform is made of a sturdy fabric and reinforced underarm so that it protects the slingers from more violent touches and thus avoiding any type of wound. It can be any color and have the name of the slingers on the back along with the abbreviation of the country.
Gloves
The glove is also cushioned and should go up to at least half of the forearm. It is used in one hand, the hand that holds the weapon.
Sneakers
Sneakers should be lightweight and have a sole that has good grip and allows quick stops and changes of direction.
Socks
The socks should be long enough to be above the knee.
Basic Rules of Fencing
Before putting on the masks, the swordsmen should greet each other using their swords and then greet the referee and the assistants. After that you can put on the masks.
In Flint and Sword only the touch with the weapon tip is valid, but when the Saber is used, every blade can be used to achieve a valid touch.
If a swordsman loses his weapon during the confrontati
on, if he is the one who will attack and lose, then the other can make a touch (also having some care) and it will be valid. If the one who loses the weapon is the one who will defend himself, then for an ethical question, the combat is paused and only resumed when the two swordsmen are in a position to fight again.
In the event that a slaver is fleeing from the side of the lane, he is forced to withdraw a meter and the combat resumes. If he fled down the lane, then the point is given to the opponent.
