CISM Futsal Cup for Peace

Well, we already talked about CISM Day Run for Peace and we told the history between CISM and Peace, and to finished this #PeaceTime in our blog, today’s post is about CISM Futsal Cup for Peace.

We’ll get out a little bit from our contest, after all, this event unfortunately doesn’t have anything to see do with the Americas, but is something that worth it talk about.

This Cup started to ease conflicts between countries: Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The Serbian Delegation to CISM organized the first “Friendly Sports” event, in Belgrade, September 2006, between the former Republics of Yugoslavia. The former CISM Secretary General, Colonel Michel Van Meurs, took the initiative. Slovenia and Croatia did not take part, because it was not included in their annual plan.

In 2008, this event was postponed, but in a CISM conference, in this same year, the six countries decided to go on with this project, using a new discipline: Futsal.

Because of this, since 2009 the CISM Futsal Cup for Peace was a reality. These days, the Cup is an eight years project with the aim of improving peace between eight countries: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia,Montenegro and The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

In Monaco, in 2009, the CISM Futsal Cup for Peace was one of the nominees’ projects for “The Peace and Sport Awards 2009”, which was conducted by Peace and Sport, l’Organisation pour la Paix par le Sport, under the high patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. Showing the success of the project was been internationally recognized.

The 10th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace, happens this year, it will be organized by the Montenegrin Delegation to CISM from May 6 to 12 in Kolašin.

Hope you enjoy it this post
