Two former members of VMI's women's football program were invited to participate in the women's soccer team of the United States Armed Forces. They will be two of the 27 athletes attempting to be part of the US team for the CISM World Championships, which will be held in Fort Bliss, Texas. "Whitehurst (Navy) and Horney (Marine Corps), both four-year starters for the Keydets before entering the service, join 25 other athletes from each branch of the US Armed Forces in attempting to make the team that will compete in the Lone Star State June 20 - July 5. " "The United States Armed Forces is a member of the International Military Sports Council, which is also known as the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM). With 136 member nations, CISM is the second largest multi-sport discipline organization after the International Olympic Committee.
